On Monday, August 20th, (Tomorrow) Will BBM Be Charged?

For some strange reasons I noticed a considerably huge amount of traffic was directed towards this blog, today, for the Google search term “on monday aug 20 bbm will be charged?”

If you are also one of the BBM users that searched for same search term and landed on this post, then I’m writing this little note to tell you that the answer to your question is “hell no!“.

If you received any broadcast or chat message on BBM that got you thinking that BBM will be charged on Monday, August 20th (tomorrow), then be rest assured that it is yet another one of those moronic chain messages passed on by jobless people via BCs as an “official message from Jim Balsille“.

You want to know the reason why I say it’s just another senseless rumour? Think about it this way:

Don’t you think charging for BBM chats would be a stupid thing to do on RIMS part? I think it would cause a lot of people to dump their Blackberry devices and get iPhones and Android devices.

Secondly, BBM runs on a pre-subscribed basis only. You paid for that with a data plan, so it will be foolish thing for RIM to charge BBM as per text messages.

Now that you know that BBM getting charged tomorrow is nothing but a hoax (I hope so) when next someone on your BBM contacts sends you that huge lie, point them to this post, or better still tell them to go shit in their hands. Lol.
