The good news is that I was able to get a full info on all the Glo Ghana internet bundles and how to activate them. In this post I’d be spilling the beans on how to activate the Glo internet bundles in Ghana. I am actually using the Glo Ghana High speed Internet service to make this post, and I don’t need to tell you that I’m browsing at monster speeds. Thanks Glo – you guys too much icon smile How To Activate Glo Internet in Ghana Full Glo Ghana Browsing Subscription Plans And Activation Codes

Let’s cut to the chase now…

Glo Ghana Internet Bundles and How To Activate Them

Below are the available Glo internet bundles in Ghana. The Glo internet bundles and the internet service as a whole is named Jet speed Internet by the Nigerian company. Very apt name if you asked me – their speed is living up to it!

Follow the instructions closely, and you should be up and running in a jiffy. Take note that you should have loaded your phone with the required plan cost before trying to activate it.

The Time-based bundle best suits those that are going to be using it at their office or for Googling school work as students. First we’d discuss the Flexi Pack.

Glo internet sucks. Its too expensive. We thought something greats gonna come. How can we even stream while we are limitted or worst on edge.
    Tigo bundle rules
    99p-unlimitted data. For 1 day.
    23ghc-unlimitted data. For 1 month.
    Glo sucks.

    • http://www.ghanacrunch.com Dosh

Ben, is that right? I guess I’d check out Tigo then. The only problem is that they have don’t have 3G coverage in my area.

You problem with glo might be due to your location, cos they are pretty fast (in terms of speed) over here in Koforidua – at least the area where I live. Talking about the price and limit attached to their bundles, if you compare them to MTN and Airtel, you’d see that they are far better off.

Thanks for reading in and leaving a comment.

    • manuel

is about time Tigo upgrade their system to 3G in many areas cos is the most cheapest in terms of internet. Glo is the 2nd cheapest

    • Detlef

      Ben

1st, you are right that tigo is the cheapest when it comes to cost but their speed sucks even when u hv 3g coverage like I have

2nd, let me correct with your prices

Unlimited Day Browsing, GHC 1.99, send Day to short code 2045

Unlimited Week Browsing, GHC 9.99, send week to short code 2040

Unlimited Month Browsing, GHC39.99, send month to short code 2040

The prices and short codes u mentioned r meant for browsing with ur handset
the prices I mentioned here are meant for browsing using a modem

      • http://www.ghanacrunch.com Dosh

Thanks for the clarification here Detlef. At the end Glo Ghana rules!

      • Pimly

Deflef u are good at correcting prizes, let me technically correct u on how irrelevant that correction is ……………..

There is no need 4 subscribing to modem bundle. All u have to do is get ur tigo chip ( u can get a new one or use the old one in your modem) put it in your phone and subscribe to the handset package and put it back in your modem ( the reason is ……. tigo does not pay attention to the device u r browsing from…….). 4 the daily subscription, u will get 77824.00 MB which is about 77GB.

Now let me talk to u about
WHY U SHLD PICK TIGO OVER GLO WHEN IT COMES TO INTERNET.

Now, even for the edge that tigo provides at most areas in Ghana u can have speed of upto 24kb/s the average is about 12kb/s . this is slow, i knw. but with an average of 12kB/s u can download or browse approximately 42Mb an hour which will be about 1GB in 24hrs.

So if this is compared to even Glo that gives 3GH for 150MB for a day u can clearly see the difference.

If u r fortunate to be in an area where there is Tigo 3.5G which gives u around 80kb/s and above by satisfying ur desire for speed, then is like u have paid nothing for the internet that Tigo gives u. ( tigo is trying to spreed 3.5G to other areas of Ghana to stay in the competition so don’t worry).

NOTE. U will not be able to finish the 77GB tigo gives u for handset unlimited even if u use it in a modem with 3.5G available.

pimly@yahoo.com if u need more info.

    • SHARQ

And where is the fiber speed they where talking of. Its still not compared to the fiber speed in the states. Its really expensive. Hope to see a change in the Speed.

    • Emmanuel

i think tigo sucks too because how can they tell us that its an unlimited internet acces yet they limit streaming and downloading to 300mb for d day, 3gb for a week and 8gb for a month. that is just cheating. You will never finish using the full day’s bundle if you browse and they enjoy big profit. they are cheats. i would love it if Glo also have their Broadband

  • Ben

@dosh. Yes. Tigo is less costly, except for no 3g service.
    To activate for unlimitted browsing
send day to 2065 as sms.
For 1 month, send month to 2078.
Do u get 3g on glo? Because i saw edge in the screenshot.
In koforidua tafo, vodafone on hsdpa or 3.5 g has a speed up to 1mb/s even with 2-3 network poles.

    • http://www.ghanacrunch.com Dosh

Thanks Ben. This is such a good revelation. I’d buy a Tigo chip just to give their internet a try. Yes, I do get 3G on Glo over here, though it tends to fluctuate sometimes. Vodafone is sure doing great at those areas you mentioned at such great speeds.

I’d give the Tigo a try and give you a feedback….personally, how have you been seeing the Tigo speed? Is it manageable for an Edge network?

      • PRINCE

hello pls am into video streaming cos i do online studying.so its all about videos videos videos streaming over the internet for me.presently am using vodafone but the new glo bundle is tempting.pls has anyone tried streaming viideos over glo network does it crack or its even more stable than what vodafone has presently now.by the way i stay dodowa road.dont know if glo coverage will be strong for video streaming here.pls i need any one that has tried video streaming on glo.
        thanks

    • David

Yo Ben, can you help me out with the tigo modem software. (the setup)

  • John Darko

Why can’t I update and charge my SIM in my iPad2 but must remove it, insert it in an ordinary cellphone, charge it then re-insert in the iPad2? This is very inconvenient and frustrating.

  • http://www.ghanacrunch.com Dosh

@Prince, from personal experience with the glo browsing on my phone and laptop, it has been extremely good and fast where I reside – Koforidua.

Particularly on my phone, I use the glo internet to stream a lot of video, and I must tell you that I have never experienced even 2 seconds of time delay – no cracks or anything. Sometimes I even forward the video and it will just take some 5 seconds and continue playing…I do all of this and have this smooth streaming experience even on edge edge reception.

Well, I can’t guarantee that your experience will be the same, so what I’d advice is that you give it a shot. You can easily buy a glo chip for 1 cedi and activate the daily plan (which is cheap) just to test run the network. If after the test running and you find out its cool, you can then make up your mind to stick with it…you get?

By the way, I tested the browsing speed when I was in Accra some 5 days ago, and it was pretty fast there too. However, just give it a shot and tell me what you feel.

    Have a nice time!

  • http://www.ghanacrunch.com Dosh

@John, I can’t tell for sure why your SIM is acting up in your ipad….

Just a few questions though, does other sim cards work normally in your ipad? If so then I can safely say that the glo chip is the problem. In that case I’d advise you take your ipad to the nearest glo shop for proper configuration.

    I hope this helps…

  • YAW

I want settings for glo using a universal modem on a laptop. e.g APN and others. i will be glad if u can assist me in that direction.

    • http://www.ghanacrunch.com Dosh

Hi Yaw, you don’t need much setting when using a Glo chip with your modem. All you need is the apn which is “internet”. Just fill that in on the settings section of the modem and you’re good to go. If you jave further problems do let me know. Have a great evening.

  • Bigman

How do I get glo Ghana internet settings, please?

    • http://www.ghanacrunch.com Dosh

@Bigman, I don’t have the full settings right now as I use a BB and it automatically downloads the settings. However, if it’s an USB modem you want to use the glo with all you need is the apn. “internet” it is….will get the full details later for u

where can i get the glo modem in swedru i think its has not reach here yet if you can leave me a number of any agent selling glo modem i will be glad

    • http://www.ghanacrunch.com Dosh

Hi Mick, I am really sorry to hear about this. However, I don’t presently have the direct contact details of any Glo worker. What I will advise you do is to call the customer care on 121 and explain things to them. Let me know as events unfold. Cheers!

      • mick

well thanks and i have get one of the glo modem and how can i check my remaining bundle balance

  • Mark

We all welcome GLO to Ghana and we expect a better network ever in GHana. I want to know if a decoded moderm can be used on the glo network and also enjoy all the services on glo internet access, such as purchase internet bunddles, call with the moderm and text messaging. How can i also get the moderm software as my current moderm is not glo and i want to decode it in order to use glo sim with it. Thanks for reading my comment.

    • http://www.ghanacrunch.com Dosh

Hi Mark, yeah you can use a decoded (non glo) modem on the Glo mobile network and still enjoy most of the services being offered by Glo. You can use the same modem software that your modem came with to connect to the Glo internet.

All you have to do is tweak the APN setting to “internet” for it to work. If the case is that you don’t have a modem software, you can google out “mobile partner” and download it.

      Hope this helps.

  • SAM

you pay ghc5 and glo gives you 300MB for only 3 days whereas airtel gives you 200MB for the same price and last 30days! Airtel is better!

    • felix

say that again… with vodafone u can even bundle 1 cedi..glo the least u can bundle is 3 cedis

    • http://www.ghanacrunch.com Dosh

That’s true, but one thing to look at is that Airtel’s internet bundle runs like water. The way my internet bundle on Airtel use to get exhausted in the blink of an eye leaves me very suspicious of some ‘dirty’ activity from the company.

Many subscribers in Nigeria complain of the same issue. I dunno sha. Just saying…

  • felix

glo internet sucks. i have tried using it for almost two days now but its still giving me problems. not to say glo is bad but with all that noise about fast internet its slow. i have used vodafone and tigo. tiog is a little bit slow because their 3g is very limited to small areas but at least they can offer u 1 cedi a day of unlimited browsing. vodafone is faster than glo where i stay…so i dont knw why they making al that noise. only time shall tell.

    • http://www.ghanacrunch.com Dosh

As you have said, only time will tell. Let’s give them more time to penetrate the landmass of Ghana more before we start passing our judgments.

  • shon

Hey Dosh, you too good. I just like your level of professionalism in tackling issues here. I must say that I am not too impressed about the costs of the various bundles on GLO especially the flexipack deals. Glo paaa !!!! Upon all the brouhaha about cheap and superfast internet? Guess I would have to hold on to my MTN dongle for a while and wait for better deals from GLO before joining in.

    • http://www.ghanacrunch.com Dosh

Hi Shon, thanks a lot fpr the compliments. That means a lot to me :)

    • http://www.ghanacrunch.com Dosh

It’s very reliable and fast mate. It’s Glo Ghana internet that I’m actually using to run this blog.

I’d highly recommend it to you if you want to check it out.

i need help configuring my universal modem for glo.ASAP!

  • Ben

Mr. PRO I have a very, very big problem with the glo moderm. i thought with the 3g staff, i would be able to browse with the fastest speed ever. but it seems it’s rather the vice versal. frankly speaking, i tell you honestly that GLO MODERM IS VERY SLOW FOR ME. so what can i do to achieve the jet speed.

    • http://www.ghanacrunch.com Ugo Dosh

Sorry to hear Ben. The truth is that the speed is tied to your geographical location as some areas are well covered with the 3G service while others aren’t.

Where you are staying, is there 3G coverage? You can tell by looking at the left lower corner of the Glo modem software.

If it’s on EDGE, then that might be the problem.

  • Darling

Glo should immediately back up, I got hspa in my hood, but speed was limited to less than 300kb/s, I used up my 6gig in two days, come on, we thought they were going to bring us something better. I’m using tigo now and it’s not the fastest but it gets the job done and I’m on 24/7, and not worried about bundle getting finished. If glo wants to take over the market, they should think again, we are not that easy.

  • http://www.speedtest.net/ Ray

Go to http://www.speedtest.net/ and post test results to show connectivity speeds for the various networks and the coverage in the particular area.

Comments like it is too slow etc, don’t really indicate download speeds of the providers.

  • Fredrick Schrock

We live at Abofour, about midway between Kumasi and Techiman. I am watching when GLO will be available here. Also wondering if it will be the same speed as in the big cities.

  • http://www.wifisoftinc.com ENGR WIFI

@ray you are very correct. i think airtel is better.i have 3g everywhere i go in Koforidua, far better than mtn and glo.

  • raygha

Glo is the best as compare to all the networks..since i have ported my number to most of them and found out that they are the best..browsing is fast and cheap.

hello guys do glo have unlimited bundle?

  • Bayo Lawal

ITS STILL PRETTY EXPENSIVE…. I THOUGHT THEY WERE BRINGING SOMETHING MUCH MORE ATTRACTIVE TO THE TABLE… SO FAR ITS JUST THE SAME GREEDY TACTICS ALL THE OTHER NETWORKS ARE EMPLOYING EXCEPT TIGO, WHOSE INTERNET IS PATHETIC. I TOTALLY EXPECTED GLO TO COME UP WITH SOMETHING LIKE AN UNLIMITED PACKAGE JUST TO ATTRACT CUSTOMERS… AM STICKING WITH MTN COS THERE ISNT MUCH DIFFERENCE AND MTN MODEMS ARE FAST AS HELL SO THANKS BUT NO THANKS GLO!!!…

  • Zormelo Jk

Yes, Glo is not only expensive but the bundles are also inflexible. 300MB @GHC5 for 3 days is just an obvious trick!

  • michaelson

hi dosh, i really like this blog and i ve decided to get a glo sim and go for the diamond package with is more affordable compared to mtn, airtel, and vodafone..
however,i ve been using an mtn modem for sometime and am just wondering; i learnt if u unlock a modem,ur data drains very fast!! as compared to the state it was b4,how true is that??

    • http://www.ghanacrunch.com Ugo Dosh

Hi Michealson, seriously, what you heard is nothing but some superstition. I must confess that I am hearing of this for the very first time.

I am personally using an unlocked ZTE airtel modem to browse with my glo sim and I have not noticed any unusual ‘zapping’ of my credit or internet bundle.

Please feel free to unlock your modem and enjoy freedom if need be. Thanks for reading in.

      • michaelson

thanks for the info bro..am left with one thing..i ve unlocked my mtn modem but when i put my glo sime on it,its not working..when i use other network sim like airtel or tigo it works..i tried changing the apn to glowap and others but i still didnt work. am using mobile partner…one morething is dat when i even try to bundle by calling 127 they tell me am not allowed to use the service..and when i text da code to 127 they tell me an error occured. pls have u got any clue on how to fix this?? thanks

        • http://www.ghanacrunch.com Ugo Dosh

To check your bundle balance make sure you are doing so via the USSD tab from the mobile partner software. But take note that some networks won’t let yourun all those network requests via a modem. You might have to take out the sim and put in a fone and make your requests.

For the glo sim not working in the modem, try using “internet” as ur APN. That is what I use and it works. Let me know how things turn out.

          • michaelson

    • http://richy-arts.blogspot.com richyhak

well Dan, vondafone new modem unlocking is quiet different from the old one. make sure you have install vodafone vmc software to get all the requirement drivers on sys. use HUAWEI MODEM Code 20Writer software to conect modem post and read the imei code.. copy into Huawei Unlocker to generate the code. then u past it back into modem code writer to unlock it.
note: connect to the net using the operating system (window) dial up connection to connec to the net.

caution: dont ever flash the modem dashboard just to get mobile partner on it. u will lose your modem drivers.

I’ve just borrowed a Glo modem, I live near Police HQ in k’dua., I can only get edge the max down load is 250kbps..

If I use Mtn that’s worse than useless, carry pigeons are faster. V-fone, that’s equal to MTN.
I have an Expresso, that’s been the best, until recently, the, speed as dropped and was pretty bad, after some emails to UAE HQ, some action as been taken, this last week I’ve been getting up to 1.8G down load.
with all this excitement, I thought I’d have a go and tweak my e1550 modem which is now universal, so Ii put an Airtel chip in, boy was this ROCKING, 2G +download, then I ran out of credit. I had another chip with 1Ghc credit on, tried Airtel again , the same brill.
the only thing now is for Tigo to get up to speed, they don’t have 3G here in K’dua. if fact those at their office here don’t know anything, useless, I went to ask some Q about their system, the guy there looked at me as though I’d just landed from planet Zog, all he could reply was we don’t have a good service here.

Either Airtel or Expresso, then Glo lets give Glo a little longer, before complaing to much, they are after all new in the market place, whereas the others have been around a while, they still have a crap service.

  • regina

i have a glo medem but i dont know if its worth having.
i load up credit just to have EDGE at the signal bar until the bundle runs out.

    • Ugo Dosh

Hi there Seth. It depends on the plan she wants to activate. Does she want a week long internet access? A month?

If you go through the list you’d see the different packages, cost and activation codes.

The cheapest from the list is the 3 cedis pack I guess.

GLO STOP CHEATING US. AHHHHH IF YOU ARE A CUSTOMER READ THIS. IT HAPPENED TO ME TOO

I hope that I am not the only one that is appalled by the antics of the telecommunication companies in Ghana.

Not only do they provide us the shoddiest services imaginable, but they made us pay through the nose for them.

    Rather
than spend our money to install good and modern equipment, we get
antediluvian machines capable of providing only stone-age services.

They continue to milk us and take us for granted. Calls are dropped at random without any apology whatever.

    They
gave us what they call ‘Broadband’ modem with speed lower than what
people in Europe used in 1980. And they arbitrarily change the contracts
we signed with them to our disfavor without explanation.

    Case in
point is Vodafone informing me via a Text Message that they have
increased their charge for my broadband service from 45 to 65 Ghana just
    like that!

To cover their shoddy performances, the Telcos spend our money on useless marketing junkets.

    Most
of them have turned themselves into virtual Lotto companies,
bewildering us with visions of outrageous wealth falling from their
    jackpots.

I am not the gambling type, so I leave them to their antics.

But then Glo Ghana came with what they called GLO BIG 5 Promo.

It was all over the media and appear straight forward enough, according to their smooth-mouthed marketing guys.

According to the GLO BIG 5 promotion, any purchase you make will be multiplied by five times.

    Since
I already get double amount on my Vodafone, I thought Glo was trying to
up the ante. Little did I know that Glo Ghana was embarking on the most
audacious scam of the modern era.

I loaded up with ten (10) cedis worth of credit and that was when I discovered how dubious and audacious these Telcos could be.

I am not about to allow myself to be fleeced by some unscrupulous company.

I have already dispatched the letter below to the management at Glo Ghana.

I also made a formal complaint to the National Communication Authority through mail () and by telephone: +233-302-771701.

I have also launched a campaign against Glo on the social network – Facebook, Gmail plus and Twitter.

    I
shall continue my campaign until I get a full refund of my ten cedis,
with an apology from Glo Ghana with an undertaking that they will
    withdraw the Dubious Promo.

    This is my letter:
Attention: Marketing Manager, Globalcom (GH) Limited.

I write to formally lodge a complaint about the fraudulent promotion you are be currently promoting.

    Reacting
to your (GLO BIG 5) advertisement, about customers getting 5 times the
amount they purchased, I bought a ten (10) cedis card at your Kasoa,
    Central Region, office.

I was taken through some rigmaroles of dialing *550*1#.

    When
I detected and complained that the expected amount was not reflected in
the main account, I was told that it is part of the BONUS account which
I can use for any and all calls.

After a few days, to my utter dismay, I was told that my credit has been exhausted.

    Knowing
that there was no way I could have used GHC50 of credit so fast, I went
back to your Kasoa office only to be told some cock and bull stories
about seventy (70) percent forming only Glo to Glo call transactions.

No one mentioned of such thing to me when I made the purchase.

    I
decided to write this formal letter because when I called your helpline
and spoke with a Rebecca (at 16:20, December 20, 2012), she will not
patch me through to a supervisor.

Your actions looks to be to be
plain fraud since no one told me anything of such when I bought the
credits, and it is not mentioned in any of the advertisements you
currently run on the fraudulent promotion.

I felt like I had been seriously raped.
    I
write to inform you that unless you make amends and credit me with the
fifty Ghana cedis I was entitled to by virtue of your promotion, I will
raise hell in the media and also make an official complaint National
    Communications Authority (NCA).

I am copying this letter to them as well as to the Ministry of Communications.

You already make enough money without further screwing your customers with ultra-dubious claims.

    I await your reply,

    Femi Akomolafe (0233-261145)
PS: Glo Ghana has already lost a subscriber.
