More than 12 worshipers have been reported dead and over 40 others seriously injured in a fresh bomb blast (suicide attack) at Harvest Field Church of Christ, which is just beside Living Faith Church (which is popularly known as Winners Chapel) located near the airport in Bauchi State, Nigeria.
The suicide bomber, who was also killed in the attack, drove a bomb-rigged Honda car into the church, targeting worshipers at the church as they left the church after service.
It is reported that the original target was Living Faith Church, so as to score a high death toll figure from its popularly known large number of worshipers. Due to the tight security on ground at Winners Chapel, the suicide bomber was said to have instead rammed his bomb-cargo on the nearest church – Harvest Field Church of Christ.
Eye witness reports suggests that all nearby churches were forced to shut down prematurely, and worshipers scamper for safety to their homes after the blast. Security operatives, armed to he teeth, have since secured the bomb site.
It was not clear who was responsible for the blast on the outskirts of the city of Bauchi, although churches have been a favorite target of violent Islamist sect Boko Haram this year- meaning that it is likely to be the handwork of the sect.
God help Nigeria!
